Installation and Upgrade
The S1 storage system provides a hardware-agnostic storage solution based on the S1 single storage engine. The basic hardware components for the S1 system include:
- Node servers (the platform)
- A management station called a relay
- Disk enclosures (JBODs)
The S1 storage engine is part of the S1 operating system. To install the S1 system, you must install the S1 operating system on each of your node servers. The S1 system runs and manages the node servers. To install the S1 system, follow this procedure:
- Review the hardware requirements, and then install and connect the physical components of the system.
- Install the S1 operating system on each of the StorONE controller nodes.
- Use the Terminal User Interface (TUI) to perform the initial setup.
- Access the web GUI to add a license and start using your system.
After you complete the initial setup, your S1 system is ready to use. You can configure the system using the command-line interface (CLI), graphical user interface (GUI), or REST API. You can also perform limited management functions using the TUI. To access the TUI at any time, SSH to the IP address of one of the S1 controller nodes as an admin user:
